MDB and Friends play the songs of Bob Dylan at The Knickerbocker, April 24, 2015

Bob Dylan is the uncontested poet laureate of the rock and roll era and the pre-eminent singer/songwriter of modern times. His much lauded songs have provided a running and poignant commentary on both his and subsequent generations. Those songs reach deeply into the heart of the American experience with extraordinary lyrical power. Without question, Bob Dylan is America’s troubadour and poet whose influence on popular music is incalculable. To honor the spirit of the man and his deep catalogue, some of Westerly’s best musicians and Dylan enthusiast are joining together for one night at the legendary Knickerbocker Café. Marc Douglas Berardo, himself an award winning songwriter, singer and guitarist, having been recognized nationally as the winner of The 2014 Wildflower Song Contest in Dallas, TX as well as awards from The Kerrville New Folk Contest, The South Florida Folk Festival, The Rocky Mountain Folks Fest and Telluride Troubadour Contest will lead some of the area’s very best players through new interpretations of Dylan's songs. The band will consist of hardworking, local standouts: bassists Marty Moroney (Green Tea, Crow's Toes, 100 Watt Suns), guitarist Josh White (The New Talks, Whitesmoke), drummer Jay Hartley (Green Tea, Phil and The Line) and keyboardist Kurt Ginter (Third Stone, Uncle John’s Clan). The night promises to be a joy filled romp through both classic and more obscure Dylan. The intention will be to bring a unique angle to each song and breathe a kind of new life into old favorites while discovering a few new gems. There will, of course, be a few special guests and surprises. A good time is guaranteed.

The show takes place on April 24, 2015 at 8pm. For info and tix go here: The Knickerbocker Cafe.
